Finding Beauty in the Mundane with Ink

Meet David

Architect. Sketchbook Artist. Everyday Observer.

Originally from the quiet town of Ibagué, Colombia, and now based in the vibrant city of Barcelona, I’ve spent the last three decades drawing the world around me — one ordinary object, shadow, and moment at a time.

My journey began in the early 1990s, using pen and ink to study architecture. What started as technical sketches soon became a lifelong practice of visual journaling — filling countless sketchbooks with urban scenes, daily rituals, and the beauty of the mundane.

Now, I teach and share my approach so that others can experience this quiet, meaningful way of drawing. Whether you're new to sketching or returning after years away, you're welcome here.

Let’s draw slowly. Let’s see more clearly.
Let’s fill the pages — one line at a time.

What you'll learn

Take a look at some of the topics we’ll explore together in this course.

See the Everyday with New Eyes

Learn how to shift your perspective and discover beauty in ordinary objects. From coffee cups to crumpled napkins, you’ll train your eye to notice light, shadow, and form in your daily surroundings — the foundation of expressive sketching.

Master the Art of Ink Drawing

Get comfortable with ink tools, line work, and shading techniques. You’ll explore texture, contrast, and composition — all through real-time demos that guide you step by step. Mistakes aren’t flaws — they’re part of the beauty.

Build a Meaningful Sketchbook Practice

Develop a rhythm that works for you. This course encourages repetition, presence, and playful experimentation — so you can turn your sketchbook into a space of reflection, creativity, and growth.
